Success in social value - 25/10/2024

Aberdeen City Council and social enterprise Scarf have together been recognised for creating social value in Scotland through the procurement for the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub and their work tackling fuel poverty.

The GO Awards are a Scottish Government initiative to recognise best practice and innovation in public sector procurement in Scotland.

Aberdeen City Council nominated the collaboration between itself, bp and energy efficiency advisors Scarf in the ‘social value’ category and was highly commended for the innovative partnership.

Initially sparked through the bidding process to form the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub joint venture, bp’s support over the last two years has enabled Scarf to recruit additional frontline advisors who carry out free home visits and provide tailored advice to help people heat their homes for less. The project is part of bp’s broader package of UK support to help the most vulnerable families through winter.
